NATIONAL ASTEROID DAY

On the occasion of National Asteroid Day, AIASC created a platform for the students to enhance their interest in aeronautical science at Lalaji memorial Omega International school at Kolappakkam. Around 50 schools participated in the workshop. From our school miss Sruthi B of Grade XI, and Master Narendiren of Grade X represented the workshop conducted by the “SPACE” team.  The mentors elaborated the use of new software ASTROMETICA and guided about the discovery asteroids, its location, its needs and its varieties.  Among 50 schools, our children were the first to discover, three asteroids and named them (AMT2717, JPS0602 & SMK0000) respectively without any guidance from the SPACE team. Later, there was a photo session provided with their participation certificate followed by an experiment demonstration on the creation of a comet, release of a hydraulic rocket. There was also setup about the measures of weight on different planets. Our students enjoyed and at the same time they learnt the same. The team also provided an opportunity to view the sun and the black spot on it through a huge telescope. On the whole, the workshop enriched the minds of our children.
